Class Descriptions
Classes are taught by experienced, lifeguard-certified swimmers. All classes are held in the upper pool. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the class.
Please use the descriptions below to properly place your child. Note that the class will be adapted to the needs of individual swimmers. The ages ranges given are approximate.
Level I (Starfish)- potty trained to age 5
The goal of this class is to facilitate the process of swimming without a parent. Starfish will learn to enter and exit the water safely, put their face in the water, move in a stretched position using aids, equipment or support, and move a distance of approximately 5 meters in any direction on their own.
Level II (Duckies) ages 3 - 6
This class introduces freestyle swimming arm and leg movements, elementary backstroke, and begins to build endurance. Duckies will work towards being able to swim 10 meters on their front and back and collect objects from the bottom of the pool.
Level III (Sunfish) ages 5 - 7
This class focuses on the coordination of arm and leg movements and developing proper body position while swimming. Sunfish work towards swimming freestyle with side breathing, and practice backstroke arm movements and kicking.
